Through the experiences of what could be ten lifetimes\, Michael is an artist who has plunged into and explored the deep spaces of personal and worldly conflict\, the beauty of love and nature\, as well as the meaning of suffering and pervasive unhappiness that threatens our human experience on all sides. In his music\, he resurfaces from these depths beaming with a positive outlook for all of us. Throughout Tiernan’s career\, he has seamlessly melded elements of folk\, reggae\, bluegrass\, blues\, soul\, and modern pop rock into his own brand of acoustic guitar-centric music. Bart Mendoza from the San Diego reader comments\, “Tiernan’s rep grows with each release. Crucial to his success is that he’s a great all-around entertainer\, from musicianship to between-song banter. Many of his songs became standards noted for their witty\, urbane lyrics\, and many of his scores found success on Broadway and in Hollywood films. He’s one of my all time favorites and I’ve written several arrangements for this 14 piece band and we will also be playing some of our favorites from previous shows.\nJoining us on stage will be vocalists Andy Anderson\, Carissa Fagan\, Lori Hable and Corey LeMaster Hable. \nTickets – $45 Streaming $30\n\n\n

DESCRIPTION:DeAndre Simmons will be preforming songs\, arias and spirituals from black composers from over the ages. He and pianist\, Ken Anderson\, will bring you through the decades of music that has changed our American culture.\nTickets $25\n\n\nAmerican bass\, DeAndre Simmons\, having been hailed as being the performances “class act” by the Los Angeles Times\, continues to gain recognition for his beautifully velvet voice\, incisive musicianship and captivating stage presence. He has performed with such great opera houses and orchestras as the Philadelphia Orchestra\, Opera Philadelphia\, San Diego Opera\, Los Angeles Philharmonic\, Hollywood Bowl under Maestro Gustavo Dudamel and Bramwell Tovey\, Columbia Pro Cantare\, Opera Panama\, Pacific Opera Victoria\, Castleton Festival under Maestro Lorin Maazel\, Santa Barbara Symphony\, London Philharmonic\, Kansas City Symphony under Michael Stern and others throughout Europe and the U.K. He performs a healthy mix of opera and concert repertoire ranging from Handel to Mozart to Rossini and to Verdi and Wagner.  \nIn addition to his operatic roles\, DeAndre regularly performs both plays and musicals. Most recently starring as the Narrator in EVERY BRILLIANT THING (CCAE Theatricals) and Montrellous in CLYDES(Moxie Theatre). His recent musical credits include Boatman in SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGEand Ken in AINT MISBEHAVIN\,(CCAE Theatricals)\, Caiaphas in JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR and Kerchak in TARZAN(Moonlight Theatre). Other theatre credits include playing Malvolio in TWELFTH NIGHT\, Father in CHILDREN OF EDEN. His portrayal of Sweeney Todd in Sondheim’s masterpiece SWEENEY TODD(San Diego Musical Theatre)was voted TOP TEN BEST SHOWS in San Diego 2024 by the San Diego Union Tribune and he was nominated for a Craig Noel Award for “Best lead performance in a musical.” He ended the year playeing Professor Bhear in LITTLE WOMEN (Moxie Theatre). Having spent years under the tutelage of the great Barbara Cook\, he frequently performs the music of musical theatre and the  American Songbook in recitals\, pops concerts and cabaret. DeAndre’s 2024/2025 season include an American Songbook recital with Opera in the Park Portland\, Marchese/Baron in LA TRAVIATA (Opera in the Park Portland)\, Sweeney Todd in SWEENEY TODD(SDMT)\, First Soldier in SALOME and Marchese D’Obigny in  \nLA TRAVIATA (San Diego Opera)\, Count in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO (Greenville Symphony) and a recital tour of arias\, songs and spirituals by composers of the African Diaspora titled “The Negro Speaks of Rivers” in Portland\, OR\, San Diego\, Chicago and Philadelphia. Also Soloist in Verdi’s REQUIEM with the Modesto Symphony. Ken and the MLK Choir have performed\nthroughout America and 9 countries abroad. Ken has also performed as a soloist with the San Diego\nOpera and productions of Showboat and Jesus Christ Super Star with local theaters. He is also adjunct\nfaculty at City College and two of their high school satellite campuses\, teaching the history of black\nmusic in America.

She worked as a singer at a theme park in Japan\, had a fantastic year as Sophie in Mamma Mia in Las Vegas\, did a stint in New Mexico as Lucy in Jekyll & Hyde\, and enjoyed a summer in Portland playing her favorite rock icon\, Janis Joplin. In NYC she performed at Soul Night at Toshi’s Living Room and produced three shows at the Duplex Cabaret Theatre\, including two solo shows\, one of which was attended and lauded by Ed Asner.  She currently performs with local female trio Harmony Three\, which has 6 shows covering music genres from 40’s swing to sassy country\, sings with the Xceptional tribute to ABBA\, and fronts local cover band Bad Rabbit. Tempchin wrote “Slow Dancing”. The song was first recorded in 1976 by the short-lived group Funky Kings\, of which Tempchin and Jules Shear were members at the time. Click the link below to grab your tickets now! \nSunday\, November 10th  \n3:00 pm – 6:00 pm \n \nJack Tempchin is an American musician and singer-songwriter who wrote the Eagles song “Peaceful Easy Feeling” and co-wrote “Already Gone”\, “The Girl from Yesterday”\, “Somebody” and “It’s Your World Now”. \nDuring the Eagles’ breakup period (1980–1994) he co-wrote with Glenn Frey producing “You Belong to the City”\, “Smuggler’s Blues”\, “The One You Love”\, “I Found Somebody”\, “Sexy Girl” and “True Love”. Tempchin wrote “Slow Dancing”. The song was first recorded in 1976 by the short-lived group Funky Kings\, of which Tempchin and Jules Shear were members at the time. In 1977\, the song became a top-10 pop hit for Johnny Rivers titled as “Swayin’ to the Music (Slow Dancing)”\, and in 1979 it was a top-10 country hit for Johnny Duncan. \nTempchin has also toured extensively as a solo artist over the years\, opening for Ringo Starr\, Jackson Browne\, Dave Mason\, Poco\, Dolly Parton\, Karla Bonoff\, Chicago\, Christopher Cross\, Kenny Loggins\, Timothy B. Schmit\, Barry McGuire\, Tom Rush\, Al Kooper and Emmylou Harris. Tempchin was voted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2019.
